Dr. Abdur Rahman Mohammad Alam is presently working as Junior Consultant (Cataract Surgery) of Bangladesh Eye Trust Hospital, Rayerbazar Dhaka. He is among one of the first left-handed surgeon in the field of Ophthalmology in Bangladesh. He hails from Bikrampur, Dhaka and was born in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (K.S.A). Early education was at Bangladesh International School English Section (Riyadh, K.S.A) and in 2004 he completed his ‘O' Level under Cambridge International Examinations. Then he completed 'A' Level under Edexcel International in 2006.

In 2012, Dr.Abdur Rahman Mohammad Alam obtained his medical graduation (MBBS) under the University of Dhaka from Shahabuddin Medical College & Hospital, Dhaka. In 2015, he passed FCPS Part 1 in Ophthalmology and joined as an honorary medical officer (HMO) in the department of Ophthalmology at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU), Dhaka for 4 years. In January, 2020 he obtained his Fellowship of College of Physicians and Surgeons (FCPS) in Ophthalmology degree under Bangladesh College of Physicians and Surgeons (BCPS), Dhaka.

By his personal interest, he did his Dissertation and research study on the topic ‘Topical atropine in retarding myopia progression and axial length growth in children with myopia’ which was published in 2020 as an original article in Journal of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University, Dhaka, Bangladesh.

Now he is doing Long-term Fellowship in Cataract Surgery at Bangladesh Eye Trust Hospital, Rayerbazar Dhaka.

He has a varied extracurricular interest and leads a very active life. Dr. Abdur Rahman Mohammad Alam is married and has a happy family with a caring, supportive and loving wife Dr. Nabila Afroze who is also doing training for her post graduate degree (FCPS Part 2) in Ophthalmology.
